24 Jan 2009 - David and Rosemary Tormos Walk

In December we had done a walk in this area with CBMW, and David thought we could make a Monday Club walk out of it. We decided to do a recce with Rosemary and Jan.

The walk was from Tormos village to Isbert Dam. Then through the disused rail tunnel and uphill to Fontilles. Uphill again to Campbell, where we would have lunch. Then we had to find a path back down to the dam and from there back to Tormos.

We had walked in this area quite a bit, and although unsure about some parts of the route were confident we could find it ok.

David, Rosemary and Jan have a short break after the tunnel

Though bright and sunny it was very cold

Quite a steep climb uphill to Fontilles

No trouble with the path, and we are on the last stretch

We all agreed it would be a very suitable walk for the Monday Club

19 Jan 2009 - Monday Club Pinos Walk

Our first walk with the Monday Club was from Penos. There was a good turn out for this popular walk.

Pat was leading, and wanted to put in an extension, which she had not done a recce for but was pretty sure she knew the route.

Jan had a bad case of flu over the Christmas break, and was not feeling too strong. So we were not too happy to be taking on a walk which might prove more difficult that we had anticipated.

We did the extension, and did not get lost, so all ended well.

The usual group photo taken at the start of the walk

We started to climb straight away, and were soon rewarded with lovely views

Penos is a small village in the moutains, so we had all around views

Another very enjoyable walk, and an excellent start to the new year.

12 Jan 2009 - CBMW Javea Walk

Our first walk with the Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers was from Javea port. There was a good turn out, and I think everyone was pleased to be out and about again.

We climbed up the hill to the light house. Then across the open ground to the tower overlooking Denia and the coast . Here we had lunch.

Then back to the windmills overlooking Javea and the coast. This is one of our favourite spots, and we often walk here ourselves.

Finally back down the hill to the port and the cars.

Climbing to the lighthouse

Lovely views of Javea port as we climbed the hill to the lighthouse at the top

Denia tower at the end of the half way point of the walk. We had lunch here

Lunch overlooking the coast near Denia. Its so nice to have bright sun shine in January, even if it is still quite cold.

Off again, Alan leads his merry group back to Javea

Javea windmills overlooking the town and bay. This location provides the best view of Javea from the port to the old town to the new beaches.
